Poison Princess (The Arcana Chronicles #1)

She could save the world—or destroy it.

Sixteen-year-old Evangeline "Evie" Greene leads a charmed life, until she begins experiencing horrifying hallucinations. When an apocalyptic event decimates her Louisiana hometown, Evie realizes her hallucinations were actually visions of the future—and they're still happening. Fighting for her life and desperate for answers, she must turn to her wrong-side-of-the-bayou classmate: Jack Deveaux.

But she can't do either alone.

With his mile-long rap sheet, wicked grin, and bad attitude, Jack is like no boy Evie has ever known. Even though he once scorned her and everything she represented, he agrees to protect Evie on her quest. She knows she can't totally depend on Jack. If he ever cast that wicked grin her way, could she possibly resist him?

Who can Evie trust?

As Jack and Evie race to find the source of her visions, they meet others who have gotten the same call. An ancient prophesy is being played out, and Evie is not the only one with special powers. A group of twenty-two teens has been chosen to reenact the ultimate battle between good and evil. But it's not always clear who is on which side.

reviewWOW, Just holy wow.

I added this book to my to-read because it was by Kresley Cole and I really enjoy her Immortals After Dark Series, and though it had a good plot base as far as I could tell, but I was hesitant due to the YA nature of it. It seems lately every YA I pick up makes me want to chuck my reader at the nearest wall,

and since I don't really want to invest in a new one I was weary to read this!!! SILLY ME! This book was phenomenal, like... 2am walking in circles around your bedroom to keep yourself awake because you have to get through one more chapter good. I have not read a YA this good is I cannot remember how long! Sigh* But enough of that, on to the review!

Evie Greene has visions. Like serious whacked out of her head the apocalypse is coming visions. In order to purge herself of these thoughts and images she sketches what she see's. Death. Zombies. END OF DAYS. The book begins with Evie telling us she has just gotten home from a stint in a mental institution after her mom found her sketchbook and finally told her mother what she was seeing. OUCH*

So other that that BIG secret, her life is perfect. Perfect boyfriend. Perfect friend. Perfect House. Lots of money. Except for that pesky problem of seeing life as we know it END.

Evie starts to not only have visions of the Apocalypse but also starts speaking to a Boy she has never met through these images. He tells her things. Helps her. Gives her advice. And there is that pesky problem of all plant life seeming to grow toward her and caress her when she isn't paying attention.

Then there is Jackson "Jack" a new boy in school from the wrong side of town. - One moment while I swoon.
Leather Jacket. Tall. Dark. Cajun. YUMO! She finds him...intriguing to say the least.
The fact that this book takes place right across the pond from me is extremely exciting to me!

SO if THAT doesn't hook your interest, we find very soon that her apocalyptic visions weren't visions. They were predictions. And boy, what predictions they were.

THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING. The story Kresley Cole weaves is flawless. The Tarrot Cards, the plants. The militia. WOW.

I am hopping right into the next book in the series!
