Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy #1)

4.15 of 5 staSt. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated
in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir,
a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run,
but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger. . . .
Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.

In the world this book creates there are two types of vampires.
Bad guys = Dead Vampires - eat and kill the living vamps.
Good guys = living vampires. feed on willing humans.

Lissa(living vampire princess) and Rosa( protector, guardian and bff) have been on the run for awhile and living in the real world. They are captured and sent back to an academy for Vampires and Guardians. we eventually learn why they were on the run. Now someone is trying to recreate the events that lead up to them running. Rosa and Lissa have a special mental bond that keeps them connected, which comes in handy a couple times.
There is SOOO much high school drama in this book, cheating, lying about sex, cruelty max. erg.
Oh that is like the best exasperated expression EVER!!!

On the plus side I really enjoyed Christian and his story, and wanted good things for him. and Dimitri - Oh Dimitri- I LOVED him - 7 years older, and forbidden fruit. *Sigh.

I did not hate this book. The idea of seperate vamp races and a specialized school for Vamps is pretty intriguing. But I will not continue the series. It was a bit too young for me. I enjoy a good YA but I guess this one was just not for me .
