Laid Bare (Brown Siblings #1)

Unexpected Desire...

It's been ten years since clean-cut, sexy-as-hell police officer Todd Keenan had a white-hot fling with Erin Brown, the provocative, wild rocker chick next door. Their power exchange in the bedroom got under his skin. But love wasn't in the cards just yet...

Now, life has thrown the pair back together. But picking up where they left off is tough, in light of a painful event from Erin's past. As Todd struggles to earn her trust, their relationship takes an unexpected and exciting turn when Todd's best friend, Ben, ends up in their bed--and all three are quite satisfied in this relationship without a name. As the passion they share transforms Erin, will it be enough to help her face the evil she thought she had left behind?
 edit

Erin- funky haired, tattooed, pierced, wild rock chick
Todd- straight-laced cop next door

They start a hot fling that pushes Todd Keenan's boundaries and what he believes a "normal healty" relationship should be which is "BORING" vanilla. Fantasies he's suppressed boil up and it's too much for him and he bails.

Now, Ten years later, Todd is back in Seattle, fully accepting of who he is and understanding there is nothing wrong with the sexual things he wants (after divorcing the vanilla he thought he wanted). So when he runs into Erin at her coffee house she owns, a second chance for them is possible. Unfortunately Erin is damaged by personal tragedy. They start off really slow but Still STEAMY!! Enter Ben, Todds BFF, for what should be one fun night of naughtiness, but feelings develop between all three.

This book was interesting. Very Steamy, and Erins story pulled at my heartstrings, but ultimately I felt something was missing.

Forever Odd (Odd Thomas #2)

Every so often a character so captures the hearts and imaginations of readers that he seems to take on a life of his own long after the final page is turned. For such a character, one book is not enough—readers must know what happens next. Now Dean Koontz returns with the novel his fans have been demanding. With the emotional power and sheer storytelling artistry that are his trademarks, Koontz takes up once more the story of a unique young hero and an eccentric little town in a tale that is equal parts suspense and terror, adventure and mystery—and altogether irresistibly odd.

We’re all a little odd beneath the surface. He’s the most unlikely hero you’ll ever meet—an ordinary guy with a modest job you might never look at twice. But there’s so much more to any of us than meets the eye—and that goes triple for Odd Thomas. For Odd lives always between two worlds in the small desert town of Pico Mundo, where the heroic and the harrowing are everyday events. Odd never asked to communicate with the dead—it’s something that just happened. But as the unofficial goodwill ambassador between our world and theirs, he’s got a duty to do the right thing. That’s the way Odd sees it and that’s why he’s won hearts on both sides of the divide between life and death.

A childhood friend of Odd’s has disappeared. The worst is feared. But as Odd applies his unique talents to the task of finding the missing person, he discovers something worse than a dead body, encounters an enemy of exceptional cunning, and spirals into a vortex of terror. Once again Odd will stand against our worst fears. Around him will gather new allies and old, some living and some not. For in the battle to come, there can be no innocent bystanders, and every sacrifice can tip the balance between despair and hope. Whether you’re meeting Odd Thomas for the first time or he’s already an old friend, you’ll be led on an unforgettable journey through a world of terror, wonder and delight—to a revelation that can change your life. And you can have no better guide than Odd Thomas.

reviewErmigosh. This Book was amazing.
Fury grew up in the labs created with animal Genes and Ellie would come in and take his blood, he would look forward to seeing her on these occasions. He hated her/loved her. etc. He escapes. there is confusion over her allegiance. She is really a good guy etc. Once he decides to claim her the sex is smoking hot and something about men saying "Mine" is Swoon worthy in these types of books lol.

His animalistic nature is quite sexy I have to tell ya... YUM-O. GRRR

nice man

“You are ours and he should have known not to touch you."

"I'm yours? I thought you hated me."

Kit stepped out of the bathroom. "We don't hate you. You're our pet."

"Kit!" Rusty shook her head. "Don't say that. You'll offend her."

Kit shrugged "She is. She's so little and cute. She yaps around trying to please like... What are they called? A Yorkie?"

Rusty sighed. "We decided she's more similar to a cute little poodle with her long blonde hair." She flashed a smile at Ellie. "Don't take it offensively please. We enjoy having you around and you amuse us to no end.”

Bad Things by Varian Krylov

Bad Things

Xavier makes a lot of people nervous. The rest, he flat-out scares. More than his hulking, tattooed body, it's his predator's gaze that makes people feel vulnerable, as if he had the power to read their thoughts and see their soul. For his lovers, it's Xavier's ravenous appetite for all things carnal—for the taste of flesh under his tongue and the feel of a trembling body under his control, for whispered pleas and muffled cries—that makes him dangerous.

But recently, driven by a festering rage against the men who attacked his sister a decade ago, Xavier has developed a taste for a different kind of hunt and conquest: stalking men who do truly bad things and punishing the predators he sniffs out. The problem with vigilante justice, though, is sometimes the man in your trap is innocent.

Carson suspects he's playing a risky game with dangerous men. But the lies are convincing, especially when they're slipped to him among hundred dollar bills. He never guessed how big and dark the secret hidden under all the lies and money could be. And he has no idea he's not the predator, but the prey, until it's too late.

And you can't beg for mercy when there's a gag in your mouth.

But when Carson escapes from Xavier's trap, he's forced to accept that Xavier is far from his most dangerous enemy. Xavier may even hold the key to overcoming the painful past that has kept Carson prisoner for almost two decades

** spoiler alert **
If you have not read Dangerously Happy I recommend you read it First. You meet Xavi in it.

Bad Things is Xavier's story, years ago his sister was brutally sexually assaulted, and he is somewhat scarred but that and is brutal. Though he is rough, you can clearly tell he has strong emotions and is not completly lost.

Enter Carson, bartender at a club Xavi is doing recon on. Seems straight on the surface, but Xavi wants to change that, he can sense Carson wants him.
Carson is so timid and sweet whereas Xavi is hard and cold.
Due to a misunderstanding Xavi thinks Carson is up to no good and decides he will teach him a lesson and pull information out of him in his dungeon of pain/sex.
WHEW, this book was brutal. I hurt for Carson... and Xavior for that matter. He was so damaged..
Xavi really hurts Carson, and Carson still cares deeply for him. It is so unhealthy and I wanted so bad for them to heal together.

I really enjoyed this one, especially bringing in the characters from the first book to help Caso know what it should really be like between lover.

* sigh - Brutal read. But very good.

The Iron King (The Iron Fey #1) by Julie Kagawa

The Iron King (The Iron Fey #1)

Meghan Chase has a secret destiny; one she could never have imagined.

Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan's life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school or at home.

When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she's known is about to change.

But she could never have guessed the truth - that she is the daughter of a mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn just how far she'll go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil, no faery creature dare face; and to find love with a young prince who might rather see her dead than let her touch his icy heart.

Did the plot of this story seem reminiscent of a certain 80's film starring David Bowie??? Just saying...
Meghan lives on a farm outside of town town; a very poor pig farmers step daughter. Her little brother who is always saying there are "Things" under his bed and in his closet it taken, by monsters from the Fairy world. She, along with her bff Puck - her guardian faerie that she had no idea about. Apparently she is a big deal to the faeries, and is a fairy herself. SO they set off to fairy land to save him and learn the truth about her heritage.
Turns out her father is the king of the faeries, and she is in big trouble for crossing over. I really did not connect with Meghan... and yes i get it she is 16 but good lord get it together.
She meets Ash, the ice prince and there is adolescent instalove, I guess u could call it that... he is alright as a character but honestly I kinda like Puck better.
I wanted to like this book more, it had sooooooo many good reviews and people were saying it was such a good read, but I just didn't feel the connection. I had to stop multiple times while reading it because it got redundant. all in all it wasn't a bad read, but I wouldn't read it again.

Crave (Fallen Angels #2)

Seven deadly sins. Seven souls that must be saved. One more no-holds- barred battle between a fallen angel with a hardened heart and a demon with everything to lose.

Isaac Rothe is a black ops soldier with a dark past and a grim future. The target of an assassin, he finds himself behind bars, his fate in the hands of his gorgeous public defender Grier Childe. His hot attraction to her can only lead to trouble-and that's before Jim Heron tells him his soul is in danger. Caught up in a wicked game with the demon who shadows Jim, Isaac must decide whether the soldier in him can believe that true love is the ultimate weapon against evil.

We met Jim in the first book of the Fallen Angels series, Covet. A gruff former XOps soldier who after dying, a couple of times (*snickering) was appointed as the "Quarterback" in the ultimate "game" of good versus evil. Round two is kicked off in Crave. I have to say, I cannot help but chuckle every time Lavina counts her lipstick or makes an impulse buy. LOL. Jim must help 7 souls choose the path of good or evil.
The H/h in this book are another XOps soldier Isaac (a blast from jims past that Mathias is after) and his lawer Grier .
I really liked Isaac as a character and the tension between him and Grier was steamy to say the least. Even though the love story progressed nicely I was always wondering "Where is Matthias, what will he do next!"
I absoutely loved being in the Devina and Matthias heads I love POV changes and think it gives SO much more to a one dimensional story.

Adrian, oh Adrian how I love you. And Eddie. OH Eddie.

The story has a twist towards the ending that I was not expecting.

Great read.

wow, loved this book! Bowen finally got his head on and got his woman ;)

He crossed to her, clasped her upper arms, and pulled her to her feet.
Gazing down at her, his voice breaking low, he said, "Doona bring me back to life only to destroy me once more."

26 Signs That "Supernatural" Has Taken Over Your Life

Bowen and Mari take you on a crazy ride in this book, and you have followed the series at all you know going into this book that he suffers so bad in this book. I absolutely loved the cave scene when they were alone together, I could FEEL his desperation to not be attracted to Mari.

What a wild ride. Excellent read.

Yvette's Haven (Scanguards Vampires #4) by Tina Folsom

Yvette's Haven (Scanguards Vampires #4)

by
After being kidnapped by a vampire hunter, vampire bodyguard Yvette's first instinct is to kill the bastard. But before she gets the chance, she realizes that he was double-crossed by the witch he was working for and now is in as much danger as she is.

To get his brother out of trouble, bounty hunter / vampire slayer Haven has to deliver the young actress Kimberly to a witch. Unfortunately, she's protected by the very creature he hates most: a vampire.

As Yvette and Haven try to escape their prison and rescue the actress and Haven's brother, will their natural hatred for each other keep them apart or is the passion that bubbles up between them strong enough for them to dare risk their lives to defeat the witch from harnessing the greatest power of all?

_____________________________________________________
This is Yvette's Story. She is the only female (currently) Scanguards primary character.
The story starts with Haven and his younger brother and infants sister at home with their mother. In walks a vampire! Vampire fights Mother(witch) and takes infant daughter. Boys are left traumatized and always seeking their sister.
Push to Present time:
Haven (hunter/witch) younger brother Wesley is taken by a powerful witch, and can only get him back if kidnaps a young woman/actress Kimberly for the witch and as a bonus he can kill the vampire guarding her (HMMM How can this go bad right?) So, he attempts to take the girl and ends up with a Yvette too, and now ALL of them are locked in the Witches stronghold.
I Did NOT expect to like Yvette. I find it very refreshing when authors take a previously unlikable character and add back story to make them one of your favorites WITHOUT compromising the integrity of the character of changing the previous stories in some way and pretending like we are to dumb to notice. Yvette has a heartbreaking backstory and she wants something so bad that your heart breaks for her.
All of the previous couples pop in and out and there are plenty of fresh faces for future books.I expect to see more of Wesley in the future. He has raw talent!
I really enjoyed this book. At times very predictable and there was Instalove, but I was absolutely pleasantly surprised.

Wild Card (Elite Ops #1) by Lora Leigh

Wild Card (Elite Ops #1)

It was supposed to be simple. All Navy SEAL Nathan Malone had to do was rescue three young girls from a Colombia drug cartel, then allow himself to be captured just long enough to draw out a government spy. That was before his mission went disastrously wrong…and before his wife, Bella, was told that Nathan was never coming home.

Bella’s mourned her husband’s death for three long years. But she has no idea he’s still alive. Forced to assume a new identity, the man Nathan was is now dead. If he can get back to his wife, can he keep the secret of who he really is…even as desire threatens to consume them? And as danger threatens to tear Bella from Nathan’s arms once more?

Wild Card is the first book in Lora Leigh’s Elite Ops romantic suspense series - a spin-off of her Tempting SEALS series. I have not read the Tempting Seals series, but it did not seem to be necessary to follow the story, and was fine as a stand alone, though I obviously did not know the back story on a few characters.
We have Nathan Malone a Navy SEAL, who was rescued after 19 months of captivity and torture, within that time has was declared dead to his wife,. He is given the choice to join a secret unit called Elite OPS and instead of going home to his wife (whom he assumes has moved on) he feels he is too damaged mentally and physically (he is seriously damaged and needs major surgery and months and months of healing time and physical therapy). He assume the new identity of Noah Blake AKA Wild Card.
He is informed his wife is in danger and Nathan/Noah’s return to his hometown for a mission after being dead for the past six years - but no worries his face, voice, and body are all different.

Nathan/Noah and Bella’s (His Wife) go back and forth and she fights an attraction to him. She is not over her husband. She still grieves.

This book hurt my heart, you have two broken people that just need each other, but he was so darn stubborn. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the rest of the series.
